Such officers were known as Rajjukas , Mahamatras and the Pradesikan . इन अधिकारियों को रज्जुक , महापात्र तथा प्रादेशिकन कहा जाता था .

Ashoka was very careful and saw to it that every five years his high officials called the Yuktas , Rajjukas and Pradeshikas went around the country to see that the judges performed their duties properly . वह यह सुनिश्चित करता था कि पांच वर्ष में एक बार उसके उच्च अधिकारी अर्थात युक्त , रज्जुक और प्रादेशिकन पूरे देश में घूमकर देखें कि न्यायाधीश अपने कर्तव्यों का निर्वाह सम्यक रूप से कर रहे हैं या नहीं .
