It is a volcanic feature of the vast Northern Cordilleran Volcanic Province and is the only location of megacrysts made of kaersutite in the volcanic zone.

The rock consists of microphenocrysts of olivine altered to serpentine, pinkish brown titanaugite, brown kaersutite amphibole, and about 15 % magnetite, embedded in a colourless analcime groundmass.
